Raq'n is a full-time student and ward of Aina. In 2424, Raq'n was granted asylum status in the Federation under the umbrella of Aina's status. He moved with Aina to Gretchen Park in 2426.

Raq'n was born early during a crisis when his mother B'ri Dai'z, and future guardian Aina, were involved in an aero accident. Following his birth and naming, his mother died.

Raq'n was born with an almost pure Arctic pelage which Aina immediately began obfuscating with dyes, as Arctic Kit are often seized by the state.

Like man Kit, Raq'n seeks connection and physical contact with others. Despite his desire for closeness, Aina has taken great pains to ensure his exposure to his kind is limited or heavily supervised. Although he now spends the majority of his time with Humanoids, Raq'n still gravitates toward his people, when he can.

Following first contact with the Federation, Aina learned that Federation society consistent of mostly solitary species who worked together despite their differences. In 2424, she smuggled herself and Raq'n to a Federation Starbase where she presented herself to the Starfleet staff as a refugee and requested asylum.

At the local magistrate hearing, Aina presented detailed evidence of the reeducation facilities a Zl’aslan like herself would be subjected to, and that she would lose Raq'n who she had raised from a kit. Based on her testimony, she and her Raq'n were offered temporary residency status. The pair then traveled to Earth where they initially settled in Vancouver, Earth.
